The Orange United Warriors will finally get to take the field on Saturday

After five years of planning and preparing, Orange United will finally makes its rugby league debut this weekend as the men's and women's are set for an away trip to Kandos to take on the red and greens in the Wallerawang Landscaping Cup competition.

It's a journey that club vice president Jason French says the teams are extremely excited about as an arduous pre-season's only boosted their excitement to play. "There's a really good buzz and feel about it right now," French said.

"Both of our adult teams and then even our junior league taggers on Sunday." "Saturday is going to be extremely special."

The under 16s league tag side will have its first opportunity to play under the United banner on Sunday as they will round out a trifecta of fixtures for the Warriors.

And while all three sides are entering their respective competitions with the goal of winning matches, the primary objective is to get out there and finally have fun playing rugby league.

"The community's hungry to get out there and watch sport - especially rugby league," he said. "Our goal is to just compete and enjoy ourselves."

Kurt Beahan's men's side is set to take on Glenn Osgood and the Kandos Waratahs and after failing to generate much of a pre-season buzz, the red and greens surprised the Mid-west following with a valiant 28-16 loss to the Cargo Heelers in a game where they took a lead into the halftime break.

Kandos has been bolstered by the inclusion of young gun Lachlan Large who added to a forward pack with a host of bush footy experience.

United's roster was fairly unknown for the majority of the pre-season but is set to feature Chris Jones, Jacob Sutherland and former Woodbridge Cup livewire Matt Fuller on Saturday as there's a healthy core of talent spread throughout the roster.

Kandos will be tough in round two CSU will be tricky in round three but French has already circled the competition top dogs.

"Oberon will be the benchmark given their roster," he said. United's league tag side will fancy its chances against the Tiaratahs after Emma Ashford's outfit fell 54-0 to Cargo in round one.
