Representatives from the Wellington and Bodangora communities, Dubbo Regional Council, Infigen Energy, GE and CATCOM attended the ceremony held at the site of turbine number nine.
I think it will be good for Wellington and doing our bit to reduce global warming.
- Graeme Whiteley
Infigen Energy CEO, Ross Rolfe, said it was through the grit determination of everyone involved – who he labelled as “true believers” – that the project has been made possible.
“It is a very important project for us and we are really appreciative of the support of the people here today. We rely on the support and good will of communities we are a part of.”
Dubbo Regional Council administrator, Michael Kneipp, wasn’t alone in welcoming the wind farm construction to the region. Landowner Graeme Whiteley of Meadowlands said he was pleased to play a part in the project, of which he will host two turbines.
“I’m pleased to see that the project is going ahead,” he said. “I think it will be good for Wellington and doing our bit to reduce global warming,” he said.
Following the formalities guests enjoyed a barbecue lunch on site, featuring local produce and refreshments.
